PS3 Essential games to have

Hey guys been building up my Playstation 3 collection and thought i would post a short list of some of the essential titles to own for the Ps3 there are a ton that are amazing but here is a list of just the top 10 and reasons why i think they should be in your collection

10. Dead Space series
While we await the incomming of the 3rd installment there is still time to ether revisit or to make your first trip to the USG Ishimura with Issac Clark for a great survival horror experience with a Sci Fi twist there is Absolutely no better place to turn to than the Dead Space Series 

9. Demon's Souls 
if you havent heard of this game i have but one question have you been living under a rock for a long while ? Demon's Souls is the precursor game in the Soul's series which is being heralded as The Hardest Gaming series in history if your looking for a challenging game then you need look no further but be prepared to die and die alot you will 

8. Resistance series 
The resistance series which was launched very close to the launch of the Playstation 3 is now somewhat over looked with the rise of Killzone to popularity but these Alter-History game series taking place during the time of the second world war which in this universe has been replaced with an alien invasion is nothing to be overlooked there is plenty of action in these games with many different multiplayer bonuses to gather aswell as a plethora of different guns and experimental ways to use these guns making it one of the shooters to keep an eye out for and add to your collection 

7. White Knights Chronicles 
White Knights Chronicles will be pretty unknown to some and well known by others this series of 2 games thus far is a fantastic Rpg to keep you playing with over 60 hours between the 2 games not including the Multiplayer quest option for when you have run through the single player mode this game will keep you engaged with a brilliant story plot great visuals and not to mention a great attention to combat giving the player the ability to make there own combos providing the element of initiative to allow players to keep guessing and trying new combos to deal out the most damage possible if you can pick this up i strongly recommend it 

6. Killzone 2,3 
Killzone is a fantastic series which came back from the ashes of the original ps2 game which as we can all agree wasnt exactly amazing and when they announced killzone 2 people where like nah think i will pass only to be thoroughly shut up after they showed the game play now it is one of the essential games to have with a playstation 3 action packed mind blowing visuals and epic multiplayer you would have to hate the ps3 graphical power not to have this work of art in your collection 

5 . Dishonored
this new IP from bethesda is a stunning representation of how to bring the steam punk art style into a video game with the great ability of a first person stealth game with some outstanding powers and side quests its a fantastic story with multiple game styles and the multiple endings which gives it amazing replay value i highly recommend that you add this game to your collection 

4. God Of War 3 
even though it has been out for a good while now God Of War 3 is still a powerhouse of a game and with the playstations power that punch is not so easily healed there are multiple reasons to buy this game but if for nothing else the way they bring the greek gods to life with the amazing visuals there is also the many different ways to play with unlock-able combos difficulties and puzzles it truly is one of the must have games for any playstation 3 gamer 

3. Uncharted series 
the uncharted games go without saying really there a fantastic game series following the exploits of Nathan Drake a treasure hunter always looking for that little extra something with amazing visuals and game play that never gets boring even with multiple play through's it is a game series that will keep you going and with the recent 2 games there is also the multiplayer dynamic which will keep even the most hardened gamer wanting more with the fast paced gun fights 

2.  Assassins Creed Series 
The assassins creed series is becoming a very iconic franchise with its incredible story stunning graphics and amazing attention to historical detail this game series will keep you wanting more and more and it will deliver whether it be from the first assassin Altair Ibn La Ahad or from the most recent Assassin Conner this series is a must have 

finally Number one this is the 100% must have game for any playstation 3 owner if you dont have this game then you should be ashamed to have a playstation 3 it is an obvious one but definitly by far the best the playstation has to offer 

1. Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns Of The Patriots 
Yes Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns Of The Patriots has to be part of every Playstation 3 Owners collection for every reason imaginable visually Story everything down to the 1,000,000 Crisp Clean pixles to the top notch voice acting to the astounding gameplay this game has it all if you ask me this is one of the games for any gamers collection.

New tips for Parents

Hey Guys here are some new tips for you to out smart your children when they are talking about video games and they think that you have no clue what they are talking about and think that they will get away with it

Tip 1.  Gamers have our own way of talking that seems alien to others who havent been brought up with games such as this generation of children here are some of the phrases that your children or teenagers will use to talk about there antics online without you knowing

AFK this is an abbreviation of  Away From Keyboard normally used by World Of Warcraft Players or players of any other form of PC gaming that is multiplayer and has Team chat options

Noob a noob is a New player they havent been playing for a long time and are online without a clue what to do

TFO  this means Totally Fucking Owned normally used when someone is on a winning streak also used with other players in games with Noob's

FTW this means For The Win it is a fairly obvious one but honestly you have no idea how many times i have had to explain that to my mum cause she thinks i am swearing

PWNED this means totally owned it is also slang that people talk in but in Gaming it normally means that they have won by a far margin say 50-3

Hack's  fairly self explanitory but it is what players shout at others when they believe that someone cant have done a certain act without modifying the game in some way ether infinite ammo or being able to not miss or being able to hit through walls

XP this stands for Experience points in video games used to level up



those are just a few that will come up a lot here are some technical terms that some parents will not know

Tip 2. technical speak for parents

there are a few that you may already understand some that you will be like i have no idea what that means but i will try and simplify it as best i can

HDMI this is a cable that is used to connect games consoles such as the playstation 3 xbox 360 and if you have the proper adaptor to the wii aswell HDMI means High Definition Media Input which will automatically set your tv to the highest resolution your tv can do whether it be 1080p or 1080i

TV resolutions explination

now that we live in an era with High Definition television and 3D tv it is important to know what you are getting into for the best image quality

the highest available at the moment is 1080p which basically means 1080 Pixels will be used on your tv instead of one large image which is what happens with standard definition televisions
same definition apply's to 720p which will use 720 pixel's on your tv there is a separate one called 1080i which is 1080 images per second which is higher defined images running at around 50-60 frames per second

moving on to 3D tv's these are becoming more and more common with video game players and with the release of the 3DS it is becoming more of a commodity for gamers to have  there are different levels and different types of 3D which i will try and explain

Stereoscopic 3D is a common one which is the same as the 3DS only with glasses

Frame Packed 3D is simmelar to the 3D you get in the cinema or movie theaters in the us and uk this is the more common one with action video games such as assassins creed and sonic the hedgehog

Side By Side 3D this one is fairly recent but it is becoming common with the Call Of Duty series what happens is the screen to people without glasses looks like the game screen has been cut in half and replicated on two sides but for people with the glasses it allows for an affect in games with friends or with single player of 3D or in multiplayer that both players will see the full screen in 3D and not just half the Screen

Inficolour 3D is a fairly uncommon one now and is very very rarely used it is the old kind of 3D that you may remember from old movies with the red and blue glasses it works well but it isnt as good as the ones listed above

Ethernet Cable an ethernet cable is used to connect your desktop computer to the internet via the router or modem in the instance that it is not wireless

Modem this is the device that allows your computer to connect to the internet without one you will not be able to connect to the internet at all

Router . the router is used as a medium to send out the signal for internet access to wireless enabled devices such as mobile phones or laptops or video game consoles aswell as tablet devices and kindles

if your a fan of assassins creed then you will probably have already picked up the game this is the 4th installment of the assassins creed game series while it is only the 3rd numbered game in the series.

Recap of the series so far

the assassins creed series has been split between 3 assassins
Altair Ibn La Ahad
Edzio Auditore da Firenze
and now Conner Ratohnhake:ton or Conner Kenway whether you recognise Haytham as his father or not

The assassins creed series follows one direct point you are trying to find the answer to stop the infamous date 21:12:12 the game series started in the 1100s with Altair who was born into the creed and became disgraced after he disobeyed a direct order and killed an innocent as you follow this story it becomes apparent that you are looking for the Apple of Eden which was created by an ancient race that came before the humanity that is now present in the world who guide Desmond in his journey when Desmond was Captured by Abstergo Industries also known as the Templar's who are part of an ancient war with the assassins they captured him and used him to find the Apple and the succeed as the first game comes to a close there is a few hints towards where the story is going on the wall of desmonds room if you go into it once beating the last mission and activating your Eagle Vision the second game begins directly from the end of the first mere minuets in fact   once rescued Desmond is plunged back into the Animus to meet another ancestor Edzio whom would provide him with decades of Experience taking you all over Europe in the time of the Renascence which spans the 2nd game and the 2 spin off games Brotherhood and Revelations through the course of assassins creed 2 you come in contact for the first time with Minerva whom informs you of the task you have to save the world brotherhood continues Edzios quest to find the apple and to find clues about those who came before revelations which is the last to feature Edzio takes you on a journey to Find Altair's Library which is locked by 5 keys once you have run the course of the game and find out what happened to Altair you are again met by the ones who came before leading you to Assassins Creed 3

Story

the story of assassins creed 3 is that of vengeance for Conner after his mother was murdered by the Templar he was met by the apple of eden and given his mission and part in the cause to save the world the story takes you through 3 cities during the American Revolution you will run into infamous characters such as George Washington , Benjamin Franklin and Daniel Boon if you have the playstation 3 version you will also meet Benedict Arnold in the Exclusive 60 extra mins of Game play the story spans from when Conner is very young to when he is a man Training for his mission to revive his birthright as an assassin the story will also span into twists and turns that keep the player emerged and intrigued especially after you unlock the first story Achievement/Trophy entitled "How'd ya Like Dem Apples" it kind of makes you want to keep playing
the story is intriguing enough for players who are fans of the story but if this is your first time playing an assassins creed title i highly recommend that you start from the beginning as new players will find the story very very confusing even with the recap at the beginning of the game

Gameplay

As with the last few games with assassins creed the game play has changed again to suit the environment for example the lack of buildings during the american Revolution requires the adaptation to climb trees and mountains in order for view points and leaps of faith as well as some epic assassination opportunity's  the combat has been adapted and changed to include some new kill opportunity's such as the human shield option which will allow you to grab and use an enemy as a shield from fire from other enemies when the icon above there head changes to yellow  how ever the combat isnt as fluid as fans of the series have come to enjoy as it has a steep learning curve and it can take a few run through to get used to even still it might never click and there are no refresher options to tell you how to preform a kill that you may have forgotten from the tutorial there is some points of the game play that could have used an extra touch up such as movement and the movement on horses and also the instructions on the hunting tutorial is not very clear as they will fail you for doing it wrong more than one time it appears that they have tried to make the animals realistic in movement and temperament but have gone a little to far in the sense that they have tried to hard to make them realistic that they have made them to artificial

Presentation

The assassins creed series is known for it panoramic views its incredible attention to detail and historical accuracy to buildings and land scapes of the time not much of this has changed with assassins creed 3 in the temperament that it is still beautiful and well landscaped and beautifully accurate how ever there are a ton of graphical glitches and errors with the detail of the game that is extremely noticeable from the get go of the game while the presentation from afar such as the view points the detailing of the trees and the landscape is still as astounding as it should be it is still hard to see how they managed to go so wrong with the amount of graphical glitches that take place time after time one very noticeable glitch takes place on the playstation 3 version of the game and not the xbox 360 during your time as haytham on the boat on the way to the new world the captains mouth fails to move while he is speaking this would be fine if it was a far shot but unfortunitly it is right in your face as it its the focus of the point of view during this cut scene but credit where credit is due the game still looks very good and the graphics arent what makes the game so intense

Multiplayer

true fans of the assassins creed story generally arent in it for the multiplayer in general there is strong suits to it as it provides some extra game play and extra time for those who enjoy a fast paced extreamly tactical multiplayer experience although there are still some extreme  problems that have yet to be addressed such as the over abundance of a certain charecter and players adapting and picking that character for that map as it makes them almost impossible to spot making it so much harder for newer players to get into the game and get there level up and unlock new upgrades for there charecters which in my own personal opinion is extreamly unfair

Round Up

all in all if you ignore the graphical glitches and the multiplayer then assassins creed 3 is a fantastic game with some stunning visuals a gripping story and all in all a great game the graphical glitches are unfortunate and a little disheartening to see but if you want to know the story and the possibility of the end of the series then you will love this game the combat takes a long time to master and a long time to get used to buying and selling and secrets will keep you exploring till your heart is content if your looking for a great game to sink your teeth into then this is the game for you if your one of the gamers who nit picks at the finer details and the graphics of a game over the story this game is not for you in any way shape or form

Tips for parents

Hints and tips for when your children ask you for games and you are unsure of what they are

here are some of the tips and ways i used to use to get my mum top buy me gory and violent games with some pretty foul language when i was far to young to get them

Tip 1.  when your child says mum / dad can i have this game look at the game age rating there is a website that you can access to see why that particular game has been given such a rating here is a link to the website

use the search bar to find the game your child is asking for

Tip 2. when you find out why it is an 18 or M and your child says "but mum/ dad it has the option to turn it off" not always true 9/10 there is an option to turn the blood off but no option to turn the swearing off be strong and tell them no because games like Grand Theft Auto etc all have there ratings for a reason

Tip 3. what should you do if your child buys the game for themselves . If i was you i would take the game off them as it is unsuitable and i would recommend taking it back and informing the shop that they have made a mistake and they should have asked for proof of age dont kick up a huge fuss as it can result in a ban but sometimes they will take the game refund the money and give you an apology discount towards a game in the future.

Tip 4. how to control what your child is playing on there console every console has parental controls  if you do not know what they are here is a little explanation on how they work first off the Xbox 360 parental controls 

first off when you turn the Xbox dashboard go along to console settings you then select parental settings
select the option user settings once selected you are then able to set what age your child is able to play and lock the settings with a password something that they wont be able to figure out to change them later this will result in when your child puts a game that is above what the settings allow it will bring up a messege saying

Parental controls active age settings do not allow this age rating to play please ask the password holder to input password to unlock

now for the Playstation 3

these are a little easier to set first when you turn on the playstation on the XMB  which is the playstation home page scroll along to the settings menu which is before the user section on the far left once there scroll down till you fins system settings you will then see parental controls now on the playstation it isnt set by age it is set by number here is a little explanation of how it works

level 1 is for very young users between the age of 5 and 9
level 2 is for slightly older and will allow the playing of games of an 11+
level 3 is for players of games with a rating of 15+
level 4 is for 16+
level 5 is for 18
level 6 is for 18+
level 7 is for anything above 18 with certain options it is also used for some 16+ games
level 8 is for games with certain options and also including vulgar language and alcohol
level 9 is the maximum age setting which is for all games this game allows everything with any content to be played

select the level that applys to the child e.g what ever you do not want your child exposed to in video games and you can ajust these freely again you can password lock these settings if you need to

Tip 4. Online gaming  personally i think that if your child is below the age of 14 they should not be allowed to play online as there is no way to control the content they are hearing due to the head set functionality with the latest generation of consoles unfortunitly there is no way to avoid it other than to not allow them to create ether an Xbox live account or a PSN account and let them play online it is much safer to allow there friends to come over and play with them in the house that way they are not hearing language that is unsuitable for them to hear. also it is a very real danger that there is no option to block players adding people unless you block the request but as with everything on the internet there is the possibility for them being the target of pedophiles on xbox live and psn it is sickening to think about i know but they are out there and they will use any means necessary to get to children to be safe i would say do not allow your child to play online when they are under aged as also from personal experience they become targets of bullying online with people swearing threatening them because they arent playing at the same level as there team mates causing them to lose to be safe just say no

Tip 5. take time with your children to play games with them it is a great oppertunity to bond aswell as for you to learn what they are being exposed to in the video game universe and it might help you to pick up some terms they use and some little things that might help when buying games for there christmas and birthday

i am a gamer and have been for a long time and i have quite a thourough collection of video games including Nes , Snes , Mega Drive , Game Cube , Sega Dreamcast , Sony Playstation 1,2 and 3 and a super slim ps3 500gb , Microsoft Xbox Microsoft Xbox 360 , PSP, PSVita , Gameboy Colour , Gameboy Advance

what i aim to do with this blog is provide you reviews on consoles games and apps i will also provide news on games when it becomes available i may do give away's but it wont be anything big probably just Psn credit and Microsoft points and possibly wii and wii u points when i know i will post about it

little introduction about myself just so people get a brief idea that i havent just come into gaming in the past few years when the hype has kicked off when everyone thinks they are gamers because the have an xbox or a ps3 i grew up gaming much as most of you would have playing the classics on atari and nintendo and have been gaming since i was around 3 years old it gamers as a community know there own and are normally up for spirited debates as most of you will know and incase any of you are up for a debate i will most likely post debate posts and would love to see what you all think about the questions

i will do current generation reviews and retro game reviews i will also do system reviews as they become available to me if you have any requests for a specific game review then i will try my best to provide it
i will also be providing tutorial videos for some emulators and burning your own dreamcast games
