Gaming Myth's and Legends

Welcome to My guide to help you boost your knowledge of what is fact and what is myth in the gaming world over the decades since gaming came to be there have been thousands of myths ranging from the down right insane to the one's that could be totally possible if they where actually real

lets start with a famous one from 1992 with the Advent of what was to become a legend in the fighting game world

in 1992 Midway launched Mortal Kombat to arcades and then eventually to the Super Nintendo and the Sega Mega Drive / Sega Genesis now when the game was launched people became aware of the existence of a 3rd ninja in the game who would randomly appear to the player with cryptic messages on how to fight him they include

  • I am Reptile, Find Me !
  • You must Find me to beat me
  • Alone is how to find me
  • Perfection is the key
  • Fatality is the key
  • 10,000,000 Points if you destroy me
  • Look to La Luna (The Moon)
  • You Cannot Match my Speed
  • TIP EHT FO MOTTOB (Reverse it

in order to fight reptile there is a certain set of instructions you need to follow to fight him Start a One Player Game. At The Pit, Look to the Moon. There must be silhouettes gliding past - this will occur every 6th game. Win Double Flawless Victory with Fatality without Blocking at all. A message will appear.

After defeating Reptile you will be grand with 1000000 points. The only one problem is that the game will be much harder.
but there was another legend that appeared sometime after players discovered the debug code for Mortal Kombat in the original arcade version and the home system versions below
Reptile battles and apperances there was a counter for Ermac's leading people to believe that there was another ninja going by the name or Ermac that was yet to be discovered in the game although there was no information at the time as to what the Ermacs counter ment or as to what it ment it didnt stop gamers spending all of there pocket money or allowances to the arcade in search of the elusive Ermac

a statement from the games developer Ed Boon

"the Ermacs counter in the Audit menu was a system i used while developing the game it stands for Error Macros that is why the counter never increases unless there is a serious error that occurs during game play but while i know what its for and while over the years people have learned what its for i will never dash the hopes of fans they can keep looking for as long as they like"

So after many years it was proven that there is in fact no 4th ninja in the original Mortal Kombat it was in fact a Myth although one positive did come from the Myth Ermac was eventually given life in the 1996 game Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 thanks to the fan search for the elusive ninja he now plays a role in the full story in the 2011 reboot of Mortal Kombat with all the powers he was described to have in the original Myth but as for this image we shall never know exactly who where or what this actually is but it is a mystery that is worth a ponder

another great Myth / Legend is the Infamous cheat code the one every little boy spent there time looking through magazines the internet asking friends to try and obtain it i am of course speaking of the infamous 1998 Tomb Raider 2 Nude Raider Cheat code

After the success of Tomb Raider released in 1996 Crystal Dynamic's decided to deliver the goods one more time after the first Tomb Raider's Ad campaign showing Lara in many different revealing photos and sexy poses it lead players to believe and fantasize that maybe there was a way to make Lara naked for the game and thus a new gaming legend was born and the hunt was on to be the first person to find a way to have lara become naked after giving up hope for the original game apon the sequels launch the hunt was back on and there was some evidence of success from a number of people claiming to have found the correct cheat code to make Lara take her clothes off one was a glitch involving the shower scene the second was a code the was proven to be genuine by the developers themselves admission the code was legit and would infact make all your block filled fantasy's come true that infamous cheat code is

Hold walk (R1) and use the D-Pad to step forward then step back. Still holding walk, turn around three times in either direction, then back flip (Down + Square).
Or, if the above doesn't work for you, try this: Hold Walk and then step left, right, left, forward, then back. Release walk and hold Left to spin around five times. Then back flip (Down + Square).

apon doing this correctly you will soon realize that the developers are naughty lying people the code infact dose not turn Lara Naked insted it has a different function when entered correctly Lara will Explode taking you back to the start of the level not just your last check point while the team behind Tomb Raider have never totally  dispelled the Myth but for the time being that is all it shall be is a Myth there is no way to actually turn Lara Naked without actually modding the game itself but while its not true gamers will continue to look for it

With Each of these i will End with a little Fact just a little thing to make you think,

Final Fantasy a series known for its stories and its ever expanding worlds its also known that even though they are on there 14th almost 15th game excluding the numbered partition games such as XIII-2 and the new Lightning Returns or Final Fantasy X and X-2 the games have never had a link between the numbers but is that totally true is there really no link between all the 14 almost 15 numbered games well i am going to tell you that it is in fact False there are 2 that link that are set a few years appart looking back at the infamous 1997 game Final Fantasy VII and the 2003 Final Fantasy X-2 in fact do link together  In Final Fantasy VII you play as cloud the blond haired blue eyed hero with a bad ass attitude and in X-2 you play as Yuna a buxom young beauty with a kick ass attitude but first we must look at the original FFX with the character Tidus the main protagonist shares a few little bonds with Cloud the lead from FFVII both had there characters changed in order to co-inside with the game plays links to the planets they take place on originally Cloud and Tidus both had Black hair Cloud eventually had a different design for him and his final design was used for his buddy Zack insted in order to make Cloud more streamlined Tidus however had his hair color changed to blond to give him a better relation ship with his name sake as Tidus means Sun in Japanese the link between Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy X-2 is subtle but the hardened fan will have found it by now In X-2 you will hear the characters talking about the life blood of the planet and how at some point they hope to refine it to make a usable stable energy but they where years away from being able to harness it aswell as the numerous references to Gaia the name you will remember for the planet in Final Fantasy VII there are two theories surrounding the link between the two games and its your choice which you choose to believe one is that the people of Final Fantasy X-2 discovered space travel and found the planet Gaia and the second theory is that if you look close enough the world Maps for FFVII and FFX and FFX-2 are very similar and that the planet it takes place on is Gaia if just slightly in need of Development and that the group you side with in FFX-2 where indeed the founding members of the Shinra electric power company the evil syndicate that you fight against in Final Fantasy VII whether or not you choose to believe it this is considered a fact among fans.

thank you for reading i will post a New Myth's and Legends once a week if there is any particular Myth or Legend you would like me to dispel or shed some light on it
