The Last Of Us Review

 REVIEW

Introduction:
The Last of Us is the latest game by the creators of the critically acclaimed series Uncharted
the game is set in a post apocalyptic world following a man and his teenage companion on there journey to help to save humanity but dose this world deserve saving or is it one that should just be left to die

Story:

The story of The Last Of Us spreads over a year beginning with one of the central characters Joel in the prologue 20 years before the beginning of the main story of the game the story takes you on a wild ride through many different twists and turns with a story that never fails to tug on the heart strings at many a point the story keeps the player interested from start to finish with a deep narrative and a story structure that allows the player to get a feel for the characters as if they where reading a good book or watching a TV series all the characters play there own part but none more important than Joel's 14 year old companion on his journey Ellie who holds the secret to keeping the human race the general story during the course of the story you will learn more and more about the threat to humanity that is the Infected a virus that has spread over humanity in just 20 short years similar to the zombie virus it is spread via bites or contact with infected blood or the strange spores that are found in dens with the dangerous clickers or the explosive boomers there are also the factions that are roaming round the city's after the militia put every american city under marshal law while a little predictable there is always the faction that is rebelling against the rule of enforced law these are known as the Firefly's fighting to find a cure for the Infection which lies in Ellie Joel's young companion there is also the average human group known simply as the survivors or bandits which are just attempting to stay alive by hunting down Firefly's and military personnel  as well as Joel and Ellie just to survive which drives the story in terms of how human desperation would play out in the event of such an out break and under marshal law the story drives the player through the game gripping and definitely emotional with some unexpected things that games just don't normally have

Gameplay:

While the game is played in the Third Person view and has shooting elements the game is not primarily a third person shooter as a twist this game is played from many different perspectives with puzzle solving shooting and as well as stealth elements helped along with the very helpful and innovated unlike with Naughty Dogs Other titles there is no focus on platforming at all there is no jump button at all but this adds to the game experience for not being able to just run and jump around the areas the games controls are simple yet effective comfortable and easy to master as well as it making the player feel like they are in full control there is no jostling about for trying to get something no fumbling to make something work the controls are streamlined and makes the game play just like a dream movement aiming and everything as well as shooting stealth and puzzles the game has many different ways to play it due to the game being post apocalyptic ammo is not always very abundant adding to this fun is the ability to craft weapons and other supply's that you may need from shivs to strapping a blade to a lead pipe as well as smoke bombs Molotov cocktails and the very helpful blade grenade as well as medical kits the game play has been streamlined to allow for who ever is playing the game to jump in and feel like a survivor with a deep game mechanic that doesn't take alot to get the hang of and master making for an enriching experience that any player can get into with ease

Design:

From the get go The Last Of Us is nothing short of astounding deep beautiful settings combined with human faces further blurring the lines of the real and the digital as well as the infected with only the one or two very minor technical hitches the game dose not suffer at all for them as to the untrained eye they are not very visible crisp to the utmost scrouteny as well as wilderness and city's that are both beautiful and dark giving the player a deeper feeling of dread and of the world whether you are on the streets woods or in the sewers the game never fails to bring the great looks and feeling to the game that you are living in a world without hope even down to the smallest of details as well as the deep range of emotions expressed by the characters faces and eyes gives the player the feeling that they aren't just playing a game they are playing real peoples lives

Multiplayer:

The Multiplayer mode in The Last Of Us is Played a little different to other third person shooters referred to in the game as Faction Mode there is a story to it which ever side you pick the Hunters or the Firefly's when you first sign in you pick which side you are on and which each side has there own story and there own skills the games are split into Death Match and free for all in which you scavenge for supplies while attempting to take out the enemy teams you can buy new weapons during the menus as well as selecting a different skill for the game that you are in in the free for all mode unlike a typical death match once your dead your dead there are no re spawns adding to the experience keeping the player on there toes to stay in the game as long as possible the multiplayer mode runs well with exceptional server quality making for the games to be bug free as well as no server lag it is a fun and reliable experience

Verdict:

The Last Of Us is a deep enriching experience with beautiful graphics and an emotional gripping story to match it makes for a great experience with only the slightest of graphical glitches every now and then with a hardened multiplayer mode as well as a story that will make the player want to play it more than one time with great replay value for 2013 it has been one of the best games as well as a definite candidate for game of the year it will be a hard game to top for this year with solid game play deep story and engaging characters this game is a definite must play for all Sony fans as well as new players to Sony

10/10
solid strong game top of the range for quality
